What a great article, thank you! I don't know why, but I always had it in my head that Gilead was a person! :)

Who knows? That ancient place might have been named after a prehistoric person. Many things are named after Gilead, including a pharmaceutical company which makes remdesivir :-P ) And there are people who have been conditioned to recoil from this place name because of a book called the Handmaiden's Tale. So much history.

There was Gad a son of Jacob whose tribe lived on the same side of the River Jordon as the region of Gilead.

Yaaaa, and tribe of Reuben and half-tribe of Manasseh, from what I have read. Don’t know how perfectly the borders were delineated.
