The true and traditional Hyssopus officinalis, which hails from the Mediterranean regions, and parts of eastern Europe, may be considered the “real” medicinal hyssop, particularly for Western people. It is one potent plant, with many gifts.

Hyssop is hardy to zone 3, it just isn't evergreen here. But mine died when I cut it all the way back to try to get rid of dead growth.

Yeah, I got mine from West Coast Seeds originally, still have a few left of several years ago. It's the purplish-blue color that's so darn pretty.
